Immerse yourself in the lively world of the Lake Rigi communities! The special exhibition 2025 shows the cultural and social village life in all its facets - from encounters and traditions to the diverse club life.Collection
In the exhibition you will get to know the country and its people, the history, local customs and the development of the trade. You will learn interesting facts about the Rigi as a mountain of alpine farmers and pilgrims and the construction and operation of Europe's first mountain railroad. You will immerse yourself in the world of tourism at the time of the "Belle Epoque" and experience the heyday of steam navigation on Lake Lucerne. But it is not only tourists and numerous representatives of the high nobility and politics who are and have been inspired by the beauty of nature. A number of great personalities from the worlds of art and culture chose the romantically situated region as their vacation or permanent home. The writer Mark Twain, the musicians Hans Huber, Sergei Rachmaninov and Edwin Fischer and the painter and co-founder of the "Moderner Bund" artists' group Hans Arp are still internationally renowned examples today.In addition to the permanent exhibition, temporary exhibitions provide a deeper insight into various themes related to the region.

Access to the museum premises is via several flights of stairs. There is no elevator in the building.
Tip
Outside of regular opening hours, private guided tours of the permanent or special exhibitions are also available for groups. A thematic focus can be set on request.
