Bathing Spots

The crystal-clear waters of Lake Lucerne are perfect for swimming—whether you’re on two legs or four! Explore dog-friendly bathing spots along the lakeshore, where your four-legged companion can safely leap into the refreshing water.

Dogs are generally welcome to access public areas of the lake. Please be mindful of any signs indicating where dogs must be kept on a leash.

Travelling with dogs

on trains, buses, boats and mountain transport

The following conditions apply on public transport:

  • Dogs must sit under your seat so that the aisle is not blocked.
  • Small dogs (up to 30 cm at the withers) can be carried free of charge in transport boxes, baskets or other animal-friendly containers.
  • For larger dogs, you must pay half the price for 2nd class or the minimum fare (dog day ticket), if applicable.
  • Dogs travel free of charge on the Rigi Bahnen AG services.
  • There is no muzzle requirement on Swiss public transport.

 

Rules of Conduct

  • Consideration when encountering other dogs and individuals is essential. Do not let your dog out of your sight.
  • Dog waste must be removed. Dispose of the full bag in the rubbish bin or Robidog bin.

  • Dogs must be kept on a leash in designated areas of the village, as indicated by posted signs.
  • Part of Mount Rigi lies within the canton of Schwyz, where dogs must be kept on a leash at all times throughout the year
  • Caution is advised in pastures with suckler cows. For the safety of all involved, it is best to keep your distance.
