Route 1291 starts at Lucerne train station and leads past the city’s main landmarks, the Water Tower and the Chapel Bridge. After a circuit around the Lucerne lake basin, the route continues to Küssnacht am Rigi, from where you can cycle with magnificent views of Lake Lucerne via Weggis to the boat landing stage in Brunnen. From here, you travel by boat to the lower end of Lake Lucerne, to Flüelen. From Flüelen, it’s a short ride to Altdorf, the first stage destination.

Directions
The first stage of Route 1291 leads from Lucerne train station via Küssnacht am Rigi, Weggis, Vitznau, and Gersau to Brunnen. From there, you take the boat to Flüelen and continue by bike to Altdorf.
Pay attention to the signposting on this route. On certain sections, there is a partial ban for fast e-bikes (45 km/h with yellow number). Here you can find the traffic signs and their meanings.

Don't forget the selfie in front of the Lucerne Water Tower and the Chapel Bridge. And the Hohle Gasse in Küssnacht is also worth a visit.
