Vintage winter steam train trips on the Rigi

Running between Vitznau and the Rigi, Europe's first cogwheel railway was inaugurated in 1871. Locomotives and carriages from those early days have been preserved and expertly restored. The burnished metal, smell of the coal fire, hissing of the steam, flying sparks and smooth interplay of the mighty mechanics cast a spell on the passengers.

The vintage steam-powered service operated by the Rigi cogwheel railway also runs on the Queen of the Mountains in winter.
