Oberdorfquai has been a Weggis landmark for over a hundred years. Exhibiting a fearless pioneering spirit, the locals defied the waters of the lake to create a neatly kept public area that could be enjoyed by visitors and locals admiring the fabulous lake panorama. That is still the case today. The present pavilion by the lake was opened in 2007.
It can be compared to similar buildings from past centuries: back then, people met under flat "polder roofs" to exchange news and views. "See and be seen" remains the motto for Oberdorfquai. What would Weggis be without people out for a Sunday stroll along the quay, walkers enjoying the shade under trees on chairs and benches, or children on a school outing feeding the swans and ducks?
